DENVER Based Mural Artist
Hi, I’m Lauren Boykin. I have been painting murals since 2020. I create murals that engage children with colorful designs and simple imagery. Available for both residential and business murals. I am based in the Denver, Colorado area, and have painted murals across the US in Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia.
How it Started
My love for mural design and painting started with a longneck dinosaur. As soon as I got pregnant, I started dreaming of creating a nursery that would be a magical space for my child to grow up in.
Inspired by our love for Jurassic Park, we decided on a dino themed room, and I instantly envisioned a mural with a tall longneck dino craning over the crib. A gentle giant to look over my son as he falls asleep. A scene that inspires imagination, wonder, and awe.
I absolutely love creating spaces for kids. And I hope each mural I design brings joy and a welcome invitation to play, dream, and create.

My Background
I have always been a creative person. I grew up doing all kinds of crafts and participating in a variety of performing arts.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media Production from Harding University. Through that degree program, I studied communication, digital design, photography, audio, video, web design, and more.
Those skills led me to a profession in marketing and communication. I have worked for three incredible youth focused organizations over the past dozen years where I continued to hone my design skills, specifically with a specialty in graphic design.
My Style
I want to create art that draws children in and encourages them to explore the art and then dream beyond it.
Every piece I create is filled with color! Whether it’s monochromatic or a full rainbow of shades, I love using bright colors that are engaging and bring joyfulness and whimsy to the scenes I paint.
With a style rooted in flat graphic design, I often use simple shapes that provide just enough detail to convey the image, leaving space for imagination to dream of a story beyond the image. A perfect style for full walls or large spaces, flat art lets color and concept shine without overwhelming visual clutter.
My Process
Most of the time I start with the concept. Usually, a client comes to me with an idea of the subject matter – sometimes it’s very specific and sometimes it’s more of a general theme.
I then consider color – colors the client wants, other colors already in the space, what colors do we want to match or contrast, and what do we want to draw attention to most in the design.
I look for inspiration images, for example, photos of animals or landscapes similar to what I want to create.
I then start creating a digital design using Adobe Illustrator and/or Procreate. Once the client and I are happy with the design, it’s time to paint.
On painting day, I keep references of the digital design handy and will often project the design directly on the wall if space and lighting allows.
